Bálint Vanek, PhD
Lead researcher
Head of NLAS Cooperative Control research field.
______
Deputy head of the SZTAKI Systems and Control Research Laboratory.
Researcher at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
He graduated in mechanical engineering from the Faculty of Transport Sciences of BME in 2003. He studied PhD at the University of Minnesota.
He has worked in Honeywell’s advanced technology research division in aeronautics, developing unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and automatic landing systems.
At SZTAKI, he works on regulatory and fault diagnosis problems for UAVs and civil aircraft. His main areas of research are increasing the safety of aircraft in both passenger aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles. Among his research, reconfiguration control based on fault diagnosis and fault detection is given a prominent role, mainly using the linear variable parameter (LPV) modeling formalism. He also works on the integration of UAVs into the common airspace and on researching a “see and avoid” system.
