US Air Force Office of Scientific Research supports ARNL researchers' project

HUN-REN's SZTAKI researchers have been awarded a grant from the US Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR). Their proposal entitled "Combining analytic and data-driven machine-learning based methods for efficient adaptive dynamic modelling" was prepared by Roland Tóth, Tamás Péni and Bálint Vanek, leading researchers at HUN-REN SZTAKI, all three researchers actively contribute to the research carried out at ARNL.

Presentation on the ethical issues of self-driving vehicles for clerics

ARNL's Lead Researcher, Balázs Németh, who is also the Head of the Engineering Mission at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, gave a presentation at the conference of the Egervölgy Reformed Diocese in Mezőkövesd on 16 October 2023. In his lecture, he spoke about the ethical aspects of artificial intelligence (AI), including the ethical issues related to the design, use and spread of self-driving vehicles.

The event was attended by nearly 300 high school students from Budapest and the surrounding area, who tested their skills in an exciting teamwork challenge.

Also ARNL programmes ran during the Researchers' Night at HUNREN SZTAKI

HUN-REN SZTAKI awaited its visitors with ten different programs, including a drone parade, demonstration of an autonomous land vehicle, an interactive blockchain simulation, demonstrations involving robots, age-clocks, and a baby monitoring system, as well as a computer hardware history exhibition, at the Researchers' Night 2023 on 29 September. Several of these programmes and demonstrations were directly related to ARNL projects and research carried out at ARNL.

SAAB visits ARNL

On September 12th and 13th, researchers of the Autonomous Systems National Laboratory (ARNL) participated in an introductory and networking workshop aimed at providing SAAB and Ericsson's partners with an opportunity to introduce themselves to the mentioned companies and establish professional connections therewith. SAAB is exploring the potential for academic collaborations in Hungary, and, as a first step, they collaborated with Ericsson Hungary to have key academic stakeholders in the fields of AI, autonomy, and transportation present their ongoing research activities.
