ARNL researchers present their research and development results to the delegation from the US Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (DEVCOM) visiting SZTAKI

The Forerunner Drone accompanies and safeguards an ambulance car in a live demo in the Smart City

In the frame of the ”Week of Safety” event-series the researchers of the Széchenyi István University (Győr, Hungary) and of the Institute for Computer Science and Control (SZTAKI, Budapest, Hungary) were given the opportunity to demonstrate to the public the results of their joint development efforts concerning a forerunner drone. The live demo was carried out with the active participation of the Hungarian National Ambulance Service (HNAS); more specifically, one of their ambulance cars was accompanied in the air and was safeguarded from above by the aforementioned drone.

The researchers of SZTAKI gave presentations and instanciated live demos to the delegation of the Office of Naval Research (ONR)

In its Innovation and Demonstration Space that had been inaugurated this summer, SZTAKI received the representatives of the Office of Naval Research (ONR). This is an organization within the United States Department of the Navy, and is responsible for the science and technology programs within the Navy and Marine Corps. The ONR delegation viewed scientific demos prepared by SZTAKI and listened to presentations on research carried out in SZTAKI.

The Bosch Group is a traditional and highly respected industrial partner of SZTAKI and the ARNL in the field of automotive research. Presently, there are several on-going research projects and cooperations with various research units of the Group.

Drone demonstration for Robert Bosch Kft. on Zalazone proving ground

Researchers of Széchenyi István University in cooperation with ELKH SZTAKI held a drone demonstration for Robert Bosch Kft. on 13th July 2022. Tracking of a ground vehicle with a camera equipped drone from the forerunner concept of the FT2 "Autonomous Near-Earth Aerial Solutions" subproject of the project “Developing innovative automotive testing and analysis competencies in the West Hungary region based on the infrastructure of the Zalaegerszeg Automotive Test Track” GINOP-2.3.4-15-2020-00009 was demonstrated.

Ground vehicle – UAV cooperative tests

Under the auspices of the Autonomous Systems National Laboratory (ARNL), diversified research is carried out concerning the control of vehicles that belong to a given vehicle-type, as well as concerning the control of vehicles that belong to various different vehicle-types. The latter research area is referred to as cooperative control, an example for this is the ground vehicle – aerial vehicle cooperative control.

Successful autonomous flight and camera stabilisation tests were carried out with the “forerunner” drone developed jointly by the SZE and the SZTAKI

The recent test of the forerunner drone equipped with autopilot was a success. The drone was developed jointly by the Széchenyi University of Győr (SZE) and the ELKH Institute for Computer Science and Control (SZTAKI). The autonomous and camera stabilisation functions worked flawlessly in all the tests performed, so the device is now ready for targeted testing in urban environment.
