Balázs Csanád Csáji, PhD

Lead researcher
Institute for Computer Science and Control

Senior researcher at NLAS.
______

Senior researcher at the SZTAKI Engineering and Business Intelligence Research Laboratory.
Associate professor in the Department of Probability Theory and Statistics, Faculty of Science, Eötvös Loránd University.

He obtained his first degree as a program designer mathematician at ELTE in 2001, and then obtained a degree in philosophy at ELTE in 2006. During his studies, he attended 3-5 months of part-time training at the Technical University of Eindhoven (Netherlands, 2001), British Telecom (Great Britain, 2002), and Johannes Kepler University (Austria, 2003). He defended his Ph.D. degree at the Faculty of Informatics of Eötvös Loránd University in 2008.

After his doctorate, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium) and from 2009 he worked at the University of Melbourne (Australia) as a “Research Fellow” from which he returned home in 2013. Csanád Csáji’s results were awarded several prizes, such as the “Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA)” of the Australian Research Council (ARC) (in the applied mathematics category) and the Béla Gyires Prize of the Department of Mathematical Sciences of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

Research areas:

  • stochastic models with probabilities and statistical studies and their engineering and industrial application have been found in machine learning and system identification
  • modeling and control of unmanned aerial vehicles
  • optical sensor based see and track systems and navigation
  • statistical machine learning
