Tamás Szirányi, DSc

Senior researcher at NLAS, head of the research field Environmental detection of NLAS.

Head of the SZTAKI Machine Detection Research Laboratory.

He is a professor at the Faculty of Transport and Vehicle Engineering (KJK) of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and the head of the Machine Detection Department of the Department of Material Handling and Logistics Systems. He has participated in several prestigious international (ESA, EDA, FP6, FP7, OTKA) projects with his laboratory.

Doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 2001, member of the Scientific Committee on Automation and Computer Science.
In 2001 he was appointed professor at the Pannonian University of Veszprém, and in 2004 at the Pázmány Péter Catholic University in Budapest.

Founder and former president of the Hungarian Society of Image Processors and Shape Recognizers (1997-2002). He has been a member of the governing body of the Hungarian Academy of Engineering and the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR) since 2008.
