Implementation of Automated Control on Test Vehicle for Safe Motion in Roundabouts

This paper presents an innovative solution for testing automated vehicle (AV) control systems in real roundabout scenarios. The main difficulty of testing solutions is that they require safety manoeuvres with multiple vehicles, which is costly and time-consuming. The application of Augmented Reality (AR) can provide a solution to this problem, as a large number of virtual vehicles can be easily simulated and visualised without the need for further physical test vehicles. The aim of this paper is to present the test environment using the example of a hierarchical control strategy.
