Csanád Budai and Tamás Széles, researchers at the National Laboratory for Autonomous Systems (ARNL), coordinated by HUN-REN SZTAKI, competed in Milan at the 22nd F1TENTH Autonomous Grand Prix, held during the 2024 IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC 2024), between 16-19 December 2024.
They were the only team to compete with an end-to-end reinforcement learning based algorithm, which, thanks to improvements since the Yokohama event, secured 5th place, advancing twice in the head-to-head races. The AI-driven autonomous racing algorithm can overtake, avoid dynamic obstacles, and navigate the track.
