Taking advantage of 5G network features, the experts of Széchenyi István University are working on the development of a special application of the drone technology.
The experts of the Digital Development Center (DDC) of Széchenyi István University (SZE) are working on the development of an interesting tool. They are developing a special drone and its software that recognizes wild animals, or human intruders in an agricultural, or industrial area, furthermore, it is also able to intervene. The request came from one of the mobile operators for the development of a self-guided drone that is capable of deterring wild animals on the fields, and scare birds off from vineyards and orchards. The project is brought together and managed by the university’s DDC, and it involves several faculties and departments.
The task is rather complex, and so professionals from different disciplines must work together in its solution, thereby taking advantage of the strengths of the institution. In addition to acquiring the necessary tools, the researchers and developers work together on the development of a software that recognizes wild animals in an open area. When the weather conditions are favourable, the drone starts to fly in a self-guided manner, and uses its sound cannon to deter the wild animals. The smart drone does not only recognize the animals, but it is also able to steer them out of the area.
The solution to be developed can be useful not only in the agricultural field, it can be deployed e.g., on an industrial area. It can be used, for instance, to notify the dispatcher about an unauthorized person in the guarded area.
