The workshop focused on the future of active aeroelastic control, showcasing the results and technological breakthroughs achieved through the FLEXOP and FliPASED H2020 projects – both coordinated by HUN-REN SZTAKI. Dr. Vanek presented key insights from the projects’ successful flight demonstrations of active flutter suppression and the methodologies that supported these outcomes. The presentation also underlined the projects’ influence on flight safety and their recognition by EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) certification experts.
The session was attended by prominent members of the Airbus innovation community, including Andreas Wildschek, former Principal Investigator for Airbus Group Innovations during the FLEXOP project, and Sebastien Blanc, Technical Director of the eXtra Performance Wing program at Airbus UpNext, which focuses on high-performance wing technologies. Numerous engineers and researchers from Airbus and the UpNext program also participated in the workshop, leading to engaging discussions on future collaboration opportunities.
Dr. Vanek’s presentation helped strengthen ties between HUN-REN SZTAKI and Airbus’s innovation ecosystem and reinforced the impact of HUN-REN SZTAKI’s research on shaping the next generation of safe, efficient, and sustainable aircraft systems in Europe.
