Péter Gáspár is also head of the Systems and Control Lab at the Hungarian Institution for Computer Science and Control (SZTAKI), where he recieved the prestigious award.
The award was presented by László Monostori, Director of SZTAKI, at the Institute's yearly meeting on 14 June 2023. The Kálmán Rudolf Prize is awarded for "outstanding scientific achievements" as the most significant professional recognition of SZTAKI.
The prize is named after Rudolf Kálmán, an electrical engineer and inventor who died in 2016. He fled to the United States as a child with his family in 1943 to escape World War II and settled there. Kálmán graduated from MIT in 1954 and received his PhD from Columbia University in 1957.
