In its Innovation and Demonstration Space that had been inaugurated this summer, SZTAKI received the representatives of the Office of Naval Research (ONR). This is an organization within the United States Department of the Navy, and is responsible for the science and technology programs within the Navy and Marine Corps. The ONR delegation viewed scientific demos prepared by SZTAKI and listened to presentations on research carried out in SZTAKI.
The ONR delegation visited SZTAKI on the 16th of September. The visit was organized by the US Embassy in Budapest. On behalf of the Institute Prof. József Bokor, Director of Research of SZTAKI, Vice-President of the Eötvös Lóránd Research Network (ELKH) greeted the delegation upon its arrival.
On behalf of the ONR, Dr. Martina Siwek, Global Science Director and Dr. Jay Marble, London Science Director gave presentations about the scientific operation of the ONR. They were accompanied in the delegation by Ms. Elizabeth Simon, Professional Associate, Mr. Luke David Thompson, Science Attaché, and by Dr. Tibor Kovács, Science Specialist.
After the ONR presentation, delegates listened to presentations given by SZTAKI researchers and watched their scientific demos. Several researchers of the Autonomous Systems National Laboratory (ARNL) were among the presenters. The scientific topics included developments in avionics, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence and automated production technologies.
The event took place in the SZTAKI Innovation and Demonstration Space.
