It was experienced also by the researchers of HUN-REN SZTAKI on a drone flight test in the beatuful sunset near Baracska, Hungary. The mentioned researchers are also active in the ARNL.
The goal of this very spectacular test flight was to generate deviated flight tracks ‒ from a base track ‒ simulating GPS spoofing (see the figure). GPS spoofing detection methods relying on other sensors can be developed and evaluated using these trajectories. Such methods will become unavoidable in the future with the spread of drones.
Video: Trajectory tracking flight of DJI M600 simulating GPS spoofing
The video shows flight of DJI M600 on a rectangular track with a custom autopilot. One of the track points is moved in every round leading to the change of trajectory shape.
