The recent test of the forerunner drone equipped with autopilot was a success. The drone was developed jointly by the Széchenyi University of Győr (SZE) and the ELKH Institute for Computer Science and Control (SZTAKI). The autonomous and camera stabilisation functions worked flawlessly in all the tests performed, so the device is now ready for targeted testing in urban environment.

The SZEnergy student racing team of Széchenyi István University achieved 4th place in the Shell Eco-marathon Autonomous Programming Competition (APC). The team members were welcomed at the Vehicle Industry Research Centre. The university, which is at the forefront of engineering disciplines, is committed to providing practice-oriented training and supporting talent.

The Vehicle Industry Research Centre at Széchenyi István University is playing an increasingly important role in the research of autonomous transport systems and electromobility. This was recognised by the National Research, Development and Innovation Office with the title of “Excellent Research Infrastructure”.

József Bokor, scientific director of SZTAKI, Péter Kacsuk, head of the Laboratory of Parallel and Distributed Systems, László Keviczky, former director of SZTAKI and chairman of the scientific council, and Ákos Zarándy, head of the Laboratory of Computer Optical Sensing and Processing and researcher at the National Laboratory of Autonomous Systems received the prestigious award.

The Vehicle Industry Research Center (VIRC) of the University of Győr presented its latest developments at the Innovation Exhibition and Invention Fair. The university is part of the ARNL consortium.

In the Innovation and Demo Space (IDS), some of SZTAKI’s most recent research and development results were presented and demonstrated.

On 21 April 2022, the Industry 4.0 professional day, also supported by SZTAKI, was held on the campus of Széchenyi István University of Győr as a workshop for ARNL.

Dr. J. Váncza, the Head of the Research Laboratory on Engineering & Management Intelligence at SZTAKI and a leading figure oft the Autonomous Systems National Laboratory, was awarded the International Dennis Gabor Award – named after the Hungarian-born Nobel laureate Dennis Gabor – at the end of last year, but received the prize only in May this year due to earlier restrictions and measures related to COVID-19.
